Happy Birthday To Me ...

Hi, y'all! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I did ... a late-night booze-a-thon at the Green Latrine ($10 all-you-can-drink Smirnoff flavors) on Friday night (maybe I had some 7-11 taquitos on the stumble home, too), Wake Forest winning the ACC Championship and earning a trip to the Orange Bowl on Saturday, and lounging and being a bum on Sunday.

Now, let me explain the headline ... it's not my birthday yet. I'll be hitting the landmark age of 30 on January 18, so it's certainly on my mind already. Plus, Pookie Mama just turned 30, too, last week. T-Bird's 30th birthday is two days after mine. However, over the weekend I decided to give myself an early birthday present, thanks to a cheap airfare that I first spotted on Friday afternoon. So on the afternoon of my 30th birthday, I'll be boarding a plane to:

Exciting Munich, Germany! (cue The Price Is Right showcase music)

Yes, how about that? Fellow travel nut Chris will be accompanying me, so it'll be great to have a friend along on this international jaunt. The airfare was a gloriously low $360, and we're flying nonstops from Dulles to Munich on our beloved United. I'm also redeeming Marriott points for the three nights that we'll be there, so no hotel expenses!

I'm excited, as this is my first trip ever to Germany. Yeah, it'll be cold there, but it's cold here in January, so whatever. It's also the first time that I've traveled internationally on a non-award ticket, so that means that I'll have a nice 8500-mile start to achieving elite status for 2008.

If anyone has any suggestions on things that I need to see in Munich, fire away! We may even rent a car one day and go out into the edge of the Alps.

WOW. You go, boy. What a way to ring in a new decade.

The only thing I know about Munich is beer out of great big steins, and that hot-hot-hottie Daniel Craig was in the important, yet depressing Speilberg film of the same name.

Congrats on the trip. Have much fun and resist the urge to wear liederhosen. Unless you're actually a Von Trapp child, you'll look ridiculous in that $h!#.

Hi - I'm a friend of Cherry Ride's and lived in Munich for 8 years. The gays are found in two streets, Muellerstrasse and Hans-Sachs-Strasse. Nearest tube = Sendlinger Tor. Check out "Pimpernel" M-strasse is excellent and trashy rent boys and TV stars (but not before 2am). "Morizz" on Klenzestrase is where the pretty boys are to be found. Have fun!
